About Our Radiology Students’ Training Posts

Diagnostic Radiological Services believes in investing in the future of radiology and the next generation of healthcare professionals. Our radiology training program is designed to support aspiring radiographers and sonographers passionate about pursuing careers in diagnostic imaging.

We are proud to be an accredited training facility with the University of Johannesburg (UJ), offering students the opportunity to combine academic excellence with hands-on experience in a real clinical environment. Through this partnership, students gain invaluable training and exposure across all modalities of radiology and ultrasound.

Both radiography and ultrasound are four-year bachelor’s degree courses, and practical, on-the-job training forms an integral part of the program. In the first year, students attend classes from January to June. From July onwards, until completion of their degree, they alternate between two weeks of practical training and two weeks of classroom learning.

Have I Got What It Takes to Apply for the Training Program?

To qualify for admission to UJ’s radiography or ultrasound programmes, and therefore for the training posts at DRS, applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

Subject Minimum Level Required
English Level 5
Mathematics Level 4
Life Sciences Level 5
Physical Sciences Level 4

Minimum APS: 30 (excluding Life Orientation)

These requirements ensure that all applicants are academically prepared to succeed in their studies and the demanding field of radiology.
